Lucknow: In the backdrop of the recent violent clashes between protesters and police, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday hit out at Akhilesh government and announced that the party will launch a campaign to prevent land-grabbing in the state.
BJP chief Amit Shah today held responsible the UP government over the lapses in handling the Jawahar Bagh violence last week in which 29 people, including two police officers, were killed.
The violence had claimed the lives of Superintendent of Police (City) Mukul Dwivedi and SHO Santosh Kumar.
Targeting the Uttar Pradesh government for what he said was the "deteriorating" law and order situation in the state in the wake of the Mathura violence, Shah wondered aloud how could goons shoot at police officers with impunity.
“The Uttar Pradesh government is run by six chief ministers. He did not take names, but his allusion was to the relatives of Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav including uncles who are part of his government - and his father, Mulayam Singh Yadav, chief of the Samajwadi Party,” said BJP chief Amit Shah, as per NDTV.
Furthermore, the BJP chief made a big announcement which is likely to have an impact on the 2017 UP Assembly Elections.
Shah today declared that BJP will launch a campaign to prevent land-grabbing in the state. "We will advertise an email ID tomorrow itself and whoever complains we will take up their case," he offered.
Accusing the ruling Samajwadi Party of shielding the corrupt and the goons, Shah asked why the Akhilesh Yadav government was not acting against those it had itself accused of corruption during the earlier Bahujan Samaj Party rule.
"The central government has launched several schemes for the welfare of farmers like the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana. But the state government has been blocking the central schemes for petty political reasons," Shah told the media here.
Shah, who is visiting the state almost every week ahead of the 2017 Assembly polls, also accused the state government of trying to "block" the initiatives taken by the Narendra Modi government and of making attempts to ensure that benefits of central government schemes do not reach the intended beneficiaries.
Listing the achievements of the National Democratic Alliance government at the Centre in two years, the BJP president alleged a "tacit understanding" between the ruling Samajwadi Party and the opposition Bahujan Samaj Party to thwart the BJP`s efforts to expand its political base in Uttar Pradesh.
Exhorting BJP workers and leaders to work towards capturing power in Uttar Pradesh, where the party holds a record 71 of the total 80 Lok Sabha seats from the state, Shah said the state`s development was possible only under a BJP government.
Meanwhile, bowing to opposition demand, Uttar Pradesh government today ordered judicial probe into last week's Mathura violence.
The probe will be conducted by a retired judge of Allahabad High Court and the inquiry committee has been asked to submit its report within two months.
However, BJP Member of Parliament from Mathura Hema Malini had demanded a CBI inquiry into the incident. Home Minister Rajnath Shing had also assured of giving permission for a CBI probe into the matter if the state government seeks for it.
