Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Public Works Department (PWD) and Revenue Minister Shivpal Yadav on Friday launched a scathing attack against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for communalising the Kairana exodus issue.
The powerful UP minister said, “the families have migrated from the area for professional reasons,” adding that the BJP is only making attempts to vitiate the atmosphere by raking the issue.
"There is no exodus in Kairna or anywhere in the state. We have intelligence and other reports in this regard. BJP leaders including Hukum Singh and others are inciting communal passions for political gains as Assembly elections are near," SP spokesman and senior cabinet minister Shivpal Yadav told reporters here.
Shivpal Yadav, the younger brother of Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav hit out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP MLA Sangeet Som saying, they both should first worry about how many people migrated after 2002 Gujarat riots.
"The entire state has become aware of them (BJP leaders) ...They are involved in all illegal works including grabbing land and fake currency trade. We are also initiating probe against them and strict action will be taken," he said.
Earlier, UP CM Akhilesh Yadav had advised the BJP to indulge in constructive works, rather than indulging in petty politics on the false claims of Hindus being forced to leave their homes in the Muslim dominated town of Kairana in Shamli district, for electoral gains in next year's assembly polls.
BJP legislator and Muzaffarnagar riots accused Hukum Singh had earlier reportedly said that the Hindus were being forced to leave their homes in the Muslim-majority town in Uttar Pradesh.
According to reports, the police have ordered a probe into the alleged migration after Singh presented a list of 346 families from the Muslim-majority town while claiming that they had to leave their homes after attacks and extortion attempts.
