Women to play key role in 2017 UP Assembly polls: Mulayam Singh Yadav

Lucknow: Admitting women's contribution in the party's win in the 2012 UP legislative Assembly Election, Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav on Friday said that they will play an important role in the 2017 polls as well.
"The contribution of women was no less in ensuring the majority government in the 2012 polls...Their role will be important in the coming elections as well, since they can work to ensure the party win by propagating its achievements up to the villages and by-lanes", Yadav said addressing a meeting of Samajwadi Mahila Sabha.
"Uttar Pradesh is the biggest state and the political direction of the country is decided from here.. Women are given a lot of respect in the Samajwadi Party and the government has also started many schemes for ensuring their honor and security", he said.
Admitting that women in politics are faced with many difficulties and opposition, sometimes from the families also, he said that despite odds they have been actively taking part in party activities.
