Left students win student council election in Tripura

Official sources said the candidates of SFI and TSU won 530 seats unopposed out of the total 778 seats and teh ABVP won 27 of the rest 248 seats in 13 colleges, election to which were held on Tuesday.

 

Agartala: Two student wings of the ruling CPI-M have swept the student council election in 22 government colleges in Tripura, which goes to the polls next year.

The Student Federation of India (SFI) and Tribal Student Union (TSU) together secured 751 seats out of the total 778 seats and Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) secured only 27 seats.

Official sources said the candidates of SFI and TSU won 530 seats unopposed out of the total 778 seats and the ABVP won 27 of the rest 248 seats in 13 colleges, election to which were held on Tuesday.

NSUI, the student wing of the opposition Congress, NSUI could not win a single seat.

Police said during the announcement of the results at Maharaja Birbikram College premises, DIG Arindam Nath and superintendent of police of west district Abhijit Saptarshi received minor injuries in pelting of stones by supporters of SFI, TSU and ABVP.
