Maoists ambush security forces near Kandhamal, one Special Operations Group jawan martyred

Bhubaneswar: One jawan belonging to the Special Operations Group (SOG) was martyred in an encounter with Maoists near Kandhamal district of Odisha on Sunday evening.

As per reports, a convoy of SOG jawans was returning to their camp when they were ambushed by Naxals near Khamankhol in the district.

despite being caught unawares, the security forces fought back with valour. However, one jawan suffered grievous injuries in the gunfight and succumbed to the injuries later.

Around 10 more jawans have suffered injuries, reports said.

Top security officials have reached the area today morning and are directed combing operations to locate the Maoists.
