Poonam first became famous when she popularly claimed that she would strip naked if the Indian cricket team wins 2011 World Cup. Incidentally, India did win the World Cup but BCCI did not allow Poonam to strip.

Again in 2012, Ponaam bet on stripping if Shah Rukh Khan's Kolkata Knight Riders win the IPL. This time around too, incidentally KKR won IPL. To keep up her promise, Poonam shared her semi-nude picture on Twitter.

Poonam Pandey filed a lawsuit against actress Shilpa Shetty's husband Raj Kundra. Armsprime Media, the company that was responsible for handling The Poonam Pandey App content. The model accused the company of illegally using her content even after their contract expired.

Poonam was allegedly a victim of severe domestic violence. The actress after marrying her then-boyfriend Sam Bombay went on a honeymoon to Goa. During her honeymoon, she lodged a complaint against her husband Sam Bombay.
