Controversy queen Kangana Ranaut has repeatedly made headlines for her scandalous remarks throughout the year. It began with Kangana's remarks on the Farmers' protest and her online tiff with Punjabi singer Diljit Dosanjh. Later in the year, the actress also blasted director Karan Johar for allegedly dropping Kartik Aaryan from 'Dostana 2'.

 

In May, her Twitter account was suspended 'over the actress violating its rules'. However, she continued to voice her strong opinions on Instagram, still creating new controversies along the way. Throughout the year, she also engaged in a public feud with Taapsee Pannu.

 

Most recently, she was criticised for calling India's 1947 independence movement as 'bheek' and claimed the country gained real independence in 2014, hinting at BJP becoming the ruling party.

In May, Bollywood actor Salman Khan had slapped a defamation notice on controversial celebrity Kamaal Rashid Khan aka KRK. The complaint was filed in a Mumbai court against KRK. 

 

While KRK speculated that the reason behind the move was his negative movie review of Salman's film 'Radhe: Your Most Wanted Bhai', Salman's legal team said otherwise.

 

An official statement from Salman Khan's legal team stated that because Kamaal R Khan tried to defame the actor by calling him 'corrupt', and his brand 'Being Human' a fraud, Salman Khan had decided to take a legal course of action against the controversial celebrity.

Actress Jacqueline Fernandez had been under the Enforcement Directorate for her alleged to conman Sukesh Chandrasekhar who is accused in a Rs 200 crore money laundering case. In November, her romantic pics with Sukesh emerged online, confirming that she shared some sort of relationship with him. ED's chargesheet also revealed that she had received expensive gifts from Sukesh.

 

According to an ANI report, Jacqueline Fernandez stated she received gifts viz three designer bags from Gucci, Chanel, two Gucci outfits for gym wear, a pair of Louis Vuitton shoes, two pairs of diamond earrings and a bracelet of multicoloured stones and two Hermes bracelets. She also received a Mini Cooper, which she returned.

Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri Khan's son Aryan Khan had taken over headlines when the shocking news of his arrest surfaced. The star kid was arrested by Narcotics Control Bureau on Oct 3 in a drugs-on-cruise case and was accused of consuming and selling drugs by the agency. However, he was granted bail by Bombay HC on October 27 and returned home to Mannat. Most Bollywood celebs including Hrithik Roshan, Pooja Bhatt, Somy Ali and Sonu Sood had come forward to support the star kid and his family.

Actor Kartik Aaryan was dropped from Karan Johar's 'Dostana 2' starring Janhvi Kapoor this year. The controversial news had left many fans in shock and confusion and some even blamed 'nepotism' as the reason behind his replacement in the film. The issue had blown up into a huge controversy as fans tried to guess the real reason behind Karan Johar and Kartik Aaryan's fallout.

Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah actress Munmun Dutta had an FIR filed against her after she allegedly made a casteist remark in her YouTube video. In the video, Munmun was seen telling her fans that she put on make-up after a long time as she wants to look good on YouTube and not look like a 'b*****' - a word that is used in a derogatory manner against individuals belonging to a lower caste. After the Twitter hashtag #ArrestMunmunDutta was trending in Top India trends, Munmun issued an apology on her Twitter account and expressed that she never intended to make a casteist remark.
