Eight Members Of Deve Gowda Family In Karnataka Politics

HD Deve Gowda is former prime minister and a popular Vokkaliga leader in south Karnataka. He has eight family members who are in public life in various roles. But as the old Janata Dal (Secular) leader – who will turn 90 next month – nears his end, his large dynasty casts a shadow.

The Gowda family has its members in all the four major houses Lok Sabha, Rajya Sabha, Legislative Assembly and Legislative Council.

Two-time Karnataka CM and son of former Prime Minister HD Devegowda. Kumaraswamy is facing stiff competition from BJP's C.P Yogeshwara from the Channapatna constituency, the seat he won in 2018.

Wife of former CM HD Kumaraswamy, Anitha is an sitting MLA from Ramanagaram seat. She will be not be contesting  in 2023 assembly elections.

A film actor turned political, Nikhil is the son of Anitha and HDK. He will be contesting from Ramanagaram replacing her mother on May 10 polls.

HD Revanna, one of the four sons of ex-PM HD Deve Gowda. He is a Former Cabinet minister and has served as a Holenarasipura MLA five times. He is seeking to get reelected from Holenarasipura for the sixth time on May 10. He has been in politics since 1994 and has won and lost the same seat. He was a minister under his brother HD Kumaraswamy’s government in 2004.

The younger son of HD Revanna and Bhavani Revanna is an Member of Parliament from Hassan Lok Sabha Constituency.

 

Suraj is the elder son of HD Revanna. He is serving as a Member of Karnataka Legislative Council (MLC) from Hassan district.

HD Revanna's wife, Bhawani Revanna is a former Zila Panchayat member. created a stir recetly by claiming that she is likely to contest Hassan assembly seat. But JD(S) has other plans and decided not to field her.
