David Warner led Sunrisers Hyderabad to IPL title in 2016. But in 2021, SRH witnessed a horrible start to their campaign, having won only a single game out of their first seven matches.

The poor performance of the team resulted in a conflict between Warner and the SRH management, which resulted in making Kane Williamson their captain.

However, Williamson failed to revive SRH's campaign as they finished at the bottom of the points table in the IPL 2021.
