Chandigarh: In the wake of reports that Harshit Sharma - a Chandigarh student - has landed a high-paying job with Google, it has now emerged that the global internet giant has no such record about the 16-year-old boy.
“Currently, we don’t have any information on our records with respect to Harshit Sharma’s candidacy,” the search engine giant was quoted as saying by the Indian Express.com.
The clarification from Google came hours after the story of Harshit Sharma - a teenager from Chandigarh - became viral on the social media.
It was earlier reported that Harshit Sharma, who completed Class 12 from the Government Model Senior Secondary School (GMSSS), Sector 33, in 2017, has been hired by the Internet giant, Google, at a whopping annual salary of Rs 1.44 crore.
It was also reported that Sharma would soon be joining the graphic designing team of the company.
He was supposed to leave for the US in August, according to previous reports.
The 16-year-old had reportedly said that the job was a “dream come true” and his hard work had paid off.
Sharma had also claimed that he got selected after submitting his posters through a “Google link”.
During the one-year training period, the 16-year-old will receive a stipend of Rs 4 lakh per month. After completion of the training he will receive a remuneration of Rs 12 lakh per month, it was earlier reported.
Harshit hails from Mathana in Kurukshetra, Haryana. He had chosen information technology in Class 12.
Harshit’s parents are teachers.
