AIFF boss Praful Patel miffed with Virat Kohli's Futsal League

New Delhi: If media reports are to be believed, then All India Football Federation (AIFF) president Praful Patel is miffed with Indian Test skipper Virat Kohli's association with the Premier Futsal League (PFL).

PFL is a five-a-side franchise-based tournament, and it has made Kohli its brand ambassador.

Knowing the fact that Kohli, 27, is also the co-owner and brand ambassador of Indian Super League team FC Goa, Patel on Saturday took to Twitter to make his stance clear on the issue.

Patel tweeted: Any brand Ambassador of an ISL franchise cannot do the same for a league not recognised by #AIFF or #FIFA.

The NCP leader's statement came days after AIFF said that it had informed the sports ministry that the Futsal Association of India (FAI) is an unrecognised body and it is considering legal action against it, also asking its affiliated members not to co-operate with the PFL.

The maiden season of the PFL was slated to be held between July 15 and 24.

Portuguese football legend Luis Figo is the president of Premier Futsal and he visited India earlier to promote the game.
