Sran took two early wickets to give India a great start in defence of 309, but a brilliant partnership between Steven Smith and George Bailey won the match for Australia in the first ODI.

After impressive India debut, Barinder Sran wants to bowl effective 'slower bouncers'

New Delhi: After making an impressive India debut, albeit in a losing cause, young pace bowler Barinder Sran has assured that he will work hard and learn new tricks, including slow bouncers.

Talking to BCCI.TV, the 23-year-old said, “I feel I could have bowled better. I did try to bowl a few slower bouncers which didn’t quite go my way, but I will put in more effort so that I can do better in the future."

He admitted that it was good to have wickets in the very first outing. The Punjab bowler took two early wickets to give India a great start, in defence of 309. But a brilliant partnership between Australian captain Steven Smith and George Bailey made the chase so simple at the WACA Ground, Perth on Tuesday that the hosts won by five wickets.

"It feels good to pick three on ODI debut, but had we broken the (Steven) Smith- (George )Bailey partnership earlier, the result could have been different. My aim will be to bowl at the right areas in the forthcoming matches,” he said.

His performance earned him accolades back home and comparisons with India legend Zaheer Khan have already been started, thanks to their ovbious similarities – that of being left-arm pace bowler.
