BCCI nervous over proposal on IPL GC: Report

New Delhi: The Justice Lodha panel had suggested the Indian Premier League (IPL) Governing Council to include two franchises and that has led to the BCCI being jittery over the proposal.

According to a report in The Times of India, some top officials of the Indian Cricket Board believe that this proposal may lead to the decisions of IPL GC being influenced by powerful team owners.

Reports claim that a top BCCI source has stated that the two proposed teams may take decisions that will benefit their own teams. Also, an issue regarding the conflict of interest in relation to commercial angle may take place.

Sources also added that earlier, former BCCI boss N Srinivasan had a presence in the council while owning the now-suspended IPL side Chennai Super Kings. His influence led to the start in a conflict of interest. The BCCI isn't keen on similar problems surfacing once again.

Meanwhile, it has also been learnt that the BCCI has sent the Lodha committee report to all state units on Wednesday.

The affiliated wings of the board have been asked to study the report carefully and discuss the issues at length before taking a legal opinion on them. January 31 is said to be the date to decide for the state units to discuss and understand the report completely.
