New Delhi: One97 Communications, which owns Paytm, is the front runner to replace PepsiCo as Indian Premier League sponsor.
According to Hindustan Times, One97 Communications is on the verge signing a deal with the BCCI and an official announcement could be made by the end of October.
One97 has been in talks with the Indian board, but for now there is no agreement over the price.
"Cricket is this country’s religion. Teams can come and go, but I don’t think cricket will ever go out of this country’s bloodstream," Vijay Shekhar Sharma, founder and CEO of One97 told HT.
One97 recently inked a Rs 203 crore to become the title sponsor for all Team India games – 84 Tests, ODIs, and T20s - for four years.
However, the deal for IPL sponsorship is different.
