Ravi Shastri resigns from ICC committee of which Anil Kumble is chairman

New Delhi: After losing out to Anil Kumble for the position of Indian cricket's head coach, Ravi Shastri has now resigned as a member of ICC's cricket committee.

According to media reports, there is no link between the two events as the former Indian team director had even earlier expressed this desire to ICC chairman Shashank Manohar.

The 53-year-old, who has been part of this committee for quite some time, wanted to give up this administrative role so that a fresh face could come in.

The former India all-rounder had also skipped the committee's meeting in the first week of June at Lord's because of his media commitments.

Reports however claim that Shastri in fact had resigned even before this meeting.

India's new head coach Anil Kumble is chairman of this committee and Shastri was part of it as a media representative.

At the moment, the former Mumbai cricketer is the most talked-about name in Indian cricket.

After missing out on the job for coach, Shastri made scathing comments about CAC member Sourav Ganguly.

The ICC website however still features the name of Shastri in the cricket committee.

But a final decision regarding the same is expected to be made very soon.
