Swashbuckling Brendon McCullum promises to 'go after the bowling again' in his final innings

He took mere 54 balls to slam the fastest ever Test century.

New Delhi: To be or not to be, that's not certainly the question for Brendon McCullum. After belting the fastest century ever in Test cricket on Saturday, the New Zealand skipper has assured that he will go after the Australian bowlers once again, in his final innings.

After the first day's play of second Test in Christchurch, McCullum said: "It was fortunate for the reprieve so it loosened me up a bit, just relaxes you a little bit more because you're probably not meant to be out there so you play with a little bit more freedom."

"I will go after the bowling again," he added.

Retiring McCullum played a brutal innings on a lively green top at Hagley Oval, and it reminded everyone that that he is leaving the sport in his own terms, and at the peak of his prowess.

The skipper reached his 12th Test century of mere 54 balls, thus bettering the previous record of 56 deliveries held by Viv Richards and Misbah-ul-Haq.

In his 124 minute stay in the centre, the 34-year-old faced 79 deliveries to score 145 runs. He hit six sixes and 21 fours.

At Day 1 stumps, Australia were 57/1 in reply to New Zealand's 370 all out.
