New Delhi: La Liga President Javier Tebas on Thursday announced that the kick-off timings of the Spanish League matches will be changed and there would be early starts to suit the ever increasing Indian football fans.

Inaugurating La Liga's New Delhi office, their sixth base of operations overseas, in the presence of La Liga ambassador Fernando Morientes, Spanish Davis Cup team led by Rafael Nadal and AIFF officials, Tebas said the kick-off timings will be changed to 4:30pm local time in Spain (8pm IST).

Indian fans, who normally get to watch the La Liga matches late at night, will now be able to watch these games at prime time in late evening.

Tebas was excited about the opening of this new office and the impact it will have for La Liga.

"It means a lot; this is one of the most important days in LaLiga's history. Being present in India is very important to us. We have been working hard towards this for a while and have even made changes to kick-off times with Indian fans in mind," Tebas said.

"I want to highlight the efforts of Sony, our broadcaster in this country. We've got to grow together if we are to become the best. I hope that our new office will enable us to achieve our dreams."

The La Liga president also shed some light on what the new office will be working on.

"We want to share our knowledge with India's young people and we will also be contributing to training coaches. That will play an important role for us and the future of Indian football alike."

Fans of La Liga in India will be able to follow the competition courtesy Sony.

LaLiga now has six international offices in all, with its base in India joining the ones in the United States, South Africa, Dubai, Nigeria and China.
