Sir Alex Ferguson holds 'emergency talks' to decide Louis van Gaal's future: Report

New Delhi: After the Red Devils failed to win any of their last six fixtures in all competitions, the Manchester United think tank has roped in Sir Alex Ferguson for a series of emergency talks regarding the future of current boss Louis van Gaal.

The Daily Mirror has reported that Ferguson held crisis talks with executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward and the club's former chief executive David Gill, as the Glazer family have left the decision in Woodward's hands.

Even though Ferguson is said to be close to the 64-year-old Dutchman, one of the major factors behind the talks is their keen interest to sign a deal with former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho, who could be heading back to Real Madrid in the summer, in case of any delay.

The report added that van Gaal has told the club he will respect their decision whichever way they decide to go.

Manchester United face Stoke City next in the Premier League on Boxing Day, before taking on Mourinho's old team Chelsea at Old Trafford next Monday.
