SHOCKING: Vijender Singh accused of disrespecting national flag, police complaint filed

New Delhi: Days after he pulled off a fantastic win over Kerry Hope, Indian boxer Vijender Singh has been accused of disrespecting the national flag after clinching WBO title.

According to a report in ANI, the star boxer has been accused by Ulhas PR of insulting the national flag by wearing tri-colour shorts to the event. A complaint has been filed at the New Ashok Nagar Police Station regarding the same.

"In this match, boxer Vijender Singh was wearing a pair of shorts and on the back of it India’s national flag was placed. This is a clear violation of flag code of India," Ulhas was quoted as saying according to the report.

The 30-year-old Vijender clinched his seventh straight win and the Super Middleweight title by outlasting former WBC European champion Kerry Hope in a 10-round contest.

The star Indian boxer is now contemplating to meet Britain's Amir Khan inside the ring.

The Pakistan-origin boxer had expressed a desire to take on Vijender in India lately.

Khan, who is currently in Dubai, recently tried himself in the middleweight by taking on world champion Saul Canelo Alvarez. However, it proved to be a disastrous decision as he was knocked out in the sixth round.
