Vijender Singh continues his impressive pro-form, knocks out trash-talking Samet Hyuseinov

New Delhi: Indian boxer Vijender Singh on Saturday made short work of his Bulgarian opponent Samet Hyuseinov to make a perfect 3-0 in his short professional career.

Vijender, 30, took little time to finish the contest as the six-round bout was over inside the first two gongs with a Technical Knock Out at Manchester Arena.

The Bhiwani boxer started cautiously with the Bulgarian opting for an defensive ploy, in contrast to what he had professed in before the bout. But in the second round, the Olympic medallist from India landed enough blows to force the referee to stop the contest.

In the build-up to the fight, Samet bragged about his power and dismissed Vijender's illustrious record at amateur boxing. The Bulgarian also warned the Indian fans that the contest will be an one-sided affair.

The Bulgarian entered the middleweight contest with a record of seven wins in his 14 bouts, against Vijender's 2 in 2 - over Sonny Whiting (TKO) in three rounds in October and Dean Gillen (KO) in November (KO).

Today's bout was expected to be a tough one for Vijender, as it will be his first six-round contest, unlike the four-round bouts in his first two matches.

But the Indian yet again proved that he is ready for the world.
