Rio Olympics, Day 16: All eyes on Yogeshwar Dutt as India look to end campaign on a high

After Sakshi Malik, if Yogeshwar Dutt too clinches a medal at Rio Olympics, it would be a tremendous achievement for Indian wrestling.

Rio De Janeiro: After Sakshi Malik and PV Sindhu made India proud at the ongoing Rio Olympics, all eyes are on ace Indian wrestler Yogeshwar Dutt as he is all set to participate in India's last event at the biggest sporting spectacle.

Yogi, as he is fondly called, won a Bronze medal at London Olympics 2016.

He would be up against Ganzorigiin Mandakhnaran of Mongolia in the first round but has a tricky draw ahead of him.

If he wins his first match, Yogeshwar is likely to face Russia’s Soslan Ramonov – 2014 worlds gold and 2015 bronze winner in the quarter-final. If he gets past him, he could meet Uzbek’s Ikhtoyor Navruzov – reigning silver medallist – in semis.

After Sakshi, if Yogeshwar clinches a medal, it would be a tremendous achievement for Indian wrestling.

Expectations were high from another wrestler Narsingh Yadav but he was banned for four years, just a day before his bout.

Narsingh's dream of representing the country in the Games shattered after he was slapped with a four-year ban by Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) for flunking a dope test after WADA challenged the clean chit given to him by NADA, a devastated Narsingh Yadav said today that he will fight till the end.
