மத்திய சுகாதார துறை அமைச்சகம் 328 மருந்துகளை உற்பத்தி செய்யவும், விற்பனை செய்யவும் தடை விதித்துள்ளது. தடை விதித்துள்ள மருந்துகளில் சேரிடான் (வலி நிவாரணி), க்ளூகோநாம் பிஜி (ஆன்டி பயோடிக்), டாசிம் ஏஇசட் உள்ளிட்ட புகழ்பெற்ற மருந்துகளும் அடங்கும். அதே சமயம் டி கோல்டு டோட்டல், கோரக்ஸ் உள்ளிட்ட சளி நிவாரணி மருந்துகள் தடையில் இருந்து தப்பித்துள்ளன.
மத்திய அரசு 2016 ஆம் ஆண்டு 349 மருந்து பொருட்கள் உட்கொள்ள தகுதியற்றவை என கூறி அவற்றின் பயன்பாட்டுக்கு தடை விதித்தது. ஆனால் மருந்து தயாரிக்கும் நிறுவனங்கள், உச்சநீதிமன்றத்தை நாடிய நிலையில், 2017 ஆம் ஆண்டு, மருந்துகள் குறித்த ஆலோசனை குழுவான டிடிஏபி (DTAB) இது குறித்து ஆய்வு செய்ய உத்தரவிடப்பட்டது.
இதன் படி, மருந்து தொழில்நுட்ப ஆலோசனை கழகம் ஆய்வு மேற்கொண்ட போது 328 மருந்துகளில் வேதி பொருட்களின் சேர்க்கை விதிகள் முறையாக பின்பற்றப்படவில்லை எனவும், இவைகள் மக்களுக்கு ஆபத்தை விளைவிக்கக் கூடியது எனவும் தெரிவிக்கப்பட்டது. இதனையடுத்து தொடர் ஆய்வுகளுக்கு பிறகு தற்போது 328 மருந்துகளை தடை செய்வதாக அரசு அறிவித்துள்ளது.
