Noida: A domestic helps’ union has decided to boycott Noida’s Mahagun Moderne society in Sector 78 after the residents blacklisted 81 domestic workers following the July 12 incident.
The Gharelu Kamgar Union (GKU) has categorically said nobody would go to work in the society unless all of them are taken back on work.
Hundreds of residents staying at the Mahagun Moderne Society faced a harrowing time on July 12 when a mob ghearaoed the premises and pelted stones.
The ruckus was created after a maid was allegedly beaten up by a Mahagun Moderne Society resident.
The problem started when angry villagers residing nearby the housing society gathered around the premises at 7 am and tried to enter the society flats forcefully.
When stopped by the security guards, the mob started pelting stones.
They had also blocked a main Dadri-Surajpur-Chhalera (DSC) road at Barola, halting traffic towards Noida Phase 2 Industrial Area.
After the July 12 incident, two counter-FIRs were filed -- one against the accused family by the domestic help and the other against unidentified people in the mob.
Union minister Mahesh Sharma, who visited the society residents on Sunday, said a law and order issue was being given a "communal colour".
Sharma, a MP from Noida, said he will ensure that the accused in the case "never get bail", while asserting that it was a clear-cut case of "mob violence" against the family.
"There is no doubt that the family is not at fault. A few people, through NGOs, media, in the name of human rights are running their shops and trying to give a communal colour to the incident. I have told my party workers to give befitting reply to them," Sharma said, as the residents cheered him on.
