How To Make Beetroot Kanji at Home?

Ingredients Needed:

1 cup of peeled and chopped beetroot, 1 teaspoon salt, 1/8 teaspoon chilli powder, 1/8 teaspoon turmeric powder (optional), 1 tablespoon mustard seed powder, 4 cups of water.

Step 1

Take a glass jar and add the chopped beetroot pieces.

Step 2

Add salt, chilli powder, turmeric and mustard seed powder to the jar.

Step 3

Fill the jar with water and then stir well.

Step 4

Cover the jar with a piece of cloth, preferably a muslin cloth and leave it to ferment.

Step 5

After two or three days, remove the cloth and check if the drink is sour in taste.

Your Drink is Ready to Serve!

If it is sour, then your drink is ready. Serve it right away or keep it in the fridge for serving it chilled.
