Tteokbokki, or simmered rice cake, is a popular Korean food made from small-sized garae-tteok called tteokmyeon or commonly tteokbokki-tteok. Eomuk, boiled eggs, and scallions are some common ingredients paired with tteokbokki in dishes.
Rice cakes (tteok), Gochujang (Korean chili paste), Gochugaru (Korean chili flakes), Fish cakes, Soy sauce, Sugar, Garlic, Green onions, Water or broth
In a pot, add water or broth and bring it to a boil. Add the rice cakes and cook until soft.
Mix gochujang, gochugaru, soy sauce, sugar, and minced garlic in a small bowl.
Add the sauce to the pot with softened rice cakes. Stir well to coat them evenly.
Slice fish cakes and chop green onions. Add them to the pot and simmer for a few minutes.
Garnish with more green onions or sesame seeds. Enjoy your homemade tteokbokki!
