Shardiya Navratri's nine-day holy period has started. Every day, devotees worship a manifestation of Maa Durga, known as an avatar. Legend has it that, for the purpose of removing obstacles from life, health, and fortune, each devi is offered a specific dish known as bhog. Look at what Maa Durga's avatars have to offer.

Day 1: Goddess Shailputri

Ghee is traditionally donated to the Devi, and it is said that doing so bestows a life free from illness.

Day 2: Goddess Brahmacharini

On day 2 Sugar or any meal flavoured with sugar is offered to Goddess Brahmacharini in exchange for a long life.

Day 3: Goddess Chandraghanta

The Goddess is fed milk-based foods on this day, and the belief is that this brings an end to all life's suffering.

Day 4: Goddess Kushmanda

Malpua is offered to the Goddess on this day, who enhances intelligence and judgement.

Day 5: Goddess Skandamata

Historians claim that the banana is the fruit of choice for the goddess Skandmata. Banana-based meals are often offered to the Goddess by devotees.

Day 6: Goddess Katyayani

It is advised to give Devi Katyayani honey as prasad to help shield her from all obstacles and promote sweetness throughout life.

Day 7: Goddess Kaalratri

It is advised to give Devi Kaalratri jaggery as prasad to alleviate suffering, remove barriers, and promote happiness.

Day 8: Goddess Mahagauri

On this day, coconut or coconut-based meals are offered to Goddess Mahagauri.

Day 9: Goddess Siddhidatri

Sesame seeds, or foods prepared with sesame seeds, are said to be served to this form of Devi in order to protect it from strange happenings.
