Amritsar: Punjab's spiritual capital Amritsar participated with enthusiasm in Punjab assembly elections 2017. Brisk polling was recorded across the 5 constituencies in the city and 6 others spread across the district.

Overall in the state, a high voter turnout record of 77.37 per cent when voting was held on February 4. Punjab Assembly Election results 2017 will be declared on February 11.

Counting will begin at 8 am.

However, the voting pattern in Amritsar (central) has not shown much difference. It recorded 65 per cent polling this year as against 64.50 per cent in 2012 assembly polls.

The city of Amritsar is divided into five constituencies namely Amritsar (North), Amritsar (West), Amritsar (Central), Amritsar (East), Amritsar (South). Barring the city, there are six more constituencies making the total number 11 across Amritsar district.

The district has witnessed re-polling in around 48 polling stations.
