New Delhi: Seven years down the line and with three films in its kitty, the ‘Madagascar’ brand has set certain benchmarks in the animation industry that will continue to inspire others in the business and enthrall generations to come.
‘Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted’ might be the closing release of the entire series, yet it has gone that extra mile to fulfill the shortcomings that were there in ‘Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa’. The movie begins where the previous franchisee ended. Alex (the lion) and zoo pals Marty - the zebra (Chris Rock), Gloria - the hippo (Jada Pinkett Smith) and Melman - the giraffe (David Schwimmer) are still stuck in Africa, pining to make their way back to New York. Along with lemur king Julien (Sacha Baron Cohen) and Cedric - the Entertainer, they follow Skipper (voiced by co-director McGrath) and his tricky penguin who accompany them to the casinos of Monte Carlo, hoping to catch a ride home. The wily plotters create a sour scene at the casino, thereby letting lose the wretched French animal-control officer Chantel DuBois (Frances McDormand) on their trail. The cute animals, on their part, run as hard as they could to find refuge on board a circus train where they meet Vitaly - the tiger (Bryan Cranston), Gia the jaguar (Jessica Chastain) and Stefano the sea lion (Martin Short). To get a ticket back home, the circus proves to be the only way out for the gang. However, that can only happen if they can deliver an outstanding circus act. From this point on, the movie’s highlights are the spellbinding adventure scenes. The animation is novel and so are the splitting jokes and the visuals. In short, the movie has that appeal that would charm the kids, the grown-ups and the kids once again when they grow up! All in all, ‘Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted’ is one for all treat to be enjoyed this summer! Ratings: Three cheers for the animated animals!
