The cyclone gained strength as blew across the Indian Ocean. 22,000 people have already been evacuated to gymnasiums, schools or churches. The winds have toppled many trees, and electricity has been cut since Friday night.

India launches Operation Vanilla to help cyclone, flood-ravaged Madagascar
India has become the first country to reach out to flood-ravaged Madagascar with operation Vanilla, deputing its ship INS Airavat to support the cyclone hit country. The ship is carrying five pallets each of victualing, clothing and naval stores along with three pallets of medicines.
