Boy with 'two faces', who was given zero chance of survival, celebrates 13th birthday!

A 13 year-old boy Tres Johnson from Missouri, US who has an extremely rare condition that gave him 'two faces' defies all odds and celebrated his 13th birthday recently.

New Delhi: Medical experts have always amazed us with the kind of experiments they carry out to cure their patients suffering with rarest of the rare diseases. But sometimes they have to give up hope and be realistic also.

A 13 year-old boy Tres Johnson from Missouri, US who has an extremely rare condition that gave him 'two faces' defies all odds and celebrated his 13th birthday recently.

According to a report in Daily Mail, the youngster suffers from rare congenital disorder craniofacial duplication, whereby parts or all of the face are duplicated on the head and doctors gave him 'zero chance of survival' when he was born. He is believed to be the only survivor of the disorder - there are only 36 cases in the world ever been recorded.

He suffers from cognitive delays and up to 40 seizures a day because of the disorder.

Tres was born with a large cleft, his eyes spaced further apart, two separate nostrils, an abnormally shaped head, cognitive delays and he also suffers from seizures.

He has undergone multiple operations to close the cleft and reshape his skull to relieve the pressure on his brain.

As per the reports, the boy had received over 14 different diagnoses before it was recognised that he had craniofacial duplication, also known as diprosopus, the Greek word for 'two faces'.

He used to suffer from more than 400 seizures a day which has been reduced to 40 when his mother started using cannabis oil to calm the symptoms.

Parents Brandy and Joshua claims that due to the rarity of his condition many medical experts see him as a research project.

They have kept their hopes up and worked hard on him which has proved to work successfully for him.

The family have a GoFundMe page to raise money for their son's medical costs.
