New Delhi: In yet another philanthropic gesture, Prince Harry underwent an HIV test on Thursday at a London clinic to raise awareness about the condition and encourage others to get it tested.

The test, which involved a pinprick and took about a minute, was broadcast live on the royal family's Facebook page.

The test was performed at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital in London, for which the 31-year-old prince tested negative.

As per BBC, there are more than 100,000 people living with HIV in the UK.

The video has also been posted on Twitter by Kensington Palace on its Twitter feed along with a photo.

"It's amazing how quick it is," said Harry.

It may be noted that his late mother Diana was famously known for raising awareness about the disease and was one of the first major figures to work to destigmatize AIDS and HIV in her life.

Harry, fifth in line to the British throne, is following Diana's footsteps by promoting HIV and AIDS awareness.

He will attend the International AIDS Conference in Durban, South Africa, next week and is scheduled to speak at the event.
