New Delhi: With new technology, medical experts are able to carry out experiments which go beyond our imagination. Doctors can go to any extent in order to cure their patients suffering with rarest of the rare diseases.

According to a report in Daily Mail, a 14-year-old girl named Ella Tomlinson has a new spine made of rope in a remarkable operation to help her carry on her sporting dream.

The teenager used to play hockey and netball for her county of Hertfordshire until she developed a severe curvature of her spine, known as scoliosis which halted her sporting career.

As per the report, Ella Tomlinson underwent a unique surgery and the first of its kind to correct her spine by using a nylon rope instead so that she can continue playing hockey. She had her operation called Vertebral Body Tethering done by inserting screws into each section of the spine to help produce the exact tension so that she can continue playing.

Ella is recuperating faster than expected since her operation in March and is now back to walking and doing physiotherapy exercises.
