Class 12 Board Exam 2021: Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal likely to take a call on CBSE, ICSE exams today

The CBSE and CISCE had postponed the class 12th exams in April due to the COVID-19 situation in the country.

New Delhi: Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal is likely to take a call on the pending Class 12 CBSE and ICSE board exams today (June 1, 2021).

While the CBSE on April 14 after postponing class 12 exams due to COVID-19 had said that the situation will be reviewed on June 1, the CISCE had also taken the same call and had announced to take a decision in the first week of June.   

"A notice of at least 15 days will be given before the start of the examinations," the education ministry had said on CBSE class 12th board exams.

On Monday, the Centre had told the Supreme Court that it will take a final decision on conducting the class 12 CBSE and ICSE board exams in the next two days. The Apex Court had adjourned the case to Thursday while observing a similar situation in 2020 had prompted internal marking instead.

Earlier on May 23, a national consultation was arranged by the Union Ministry of Education with the Education Ministers and Administrators of all States and UTs. It was chaired by the Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and was attended by Pokhriyal and a few other Union Ministers. 

The discussions were held around board exams and the All-India Entrance examinations for various higher education institutions and professional courses. Various options regarding the methodology, process, duration and timings of the exams were discussed. 

"I want to reiterate that both students' and teachers' safety, security, and future are supremely important to us," the Union Education Minister had said post the meeting.
