Election Commission to openly challenge Arvind Kejriwal to check EVMs?

New Delhi: After facing several allegations related with tampering of electronic voting machines (EVMs), the Election Commission of India (ECI) has reportedly decided to soon throw an 'open challenge' to check EVMs.

ECI will soon fix a date for this open challenge, according to a report in The Indian Express.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Monday had challenged ECI to make the EVMs available to the party for 72 hours.

Kejriwal claimed that “we will read the code and rewrite it too”.

Earlier, Kejriwal had alleged that the EVMs can be tampered with. His statement came following AAP's poor performance in Punjab assembly polls.

Also, Arvind Kejriwal urged the Election Commission to investigate cases of “faulty” EVMs and ascertain if their software can be tweaked “in favour of the BJP”.

The CM’s remark came a day after some media reports suggested that Voter-verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) machine was dispensing slips of BJP symbol only, irrespective of the button pressed, during a demonstration exercise in Bhind, Madhya Pradesh.
