Committed to implementation of minimum wages bill: Arvind Kejriwal

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday said his government was committed to effectively implementing the "Minimum Wages (Delhi) Amendment Bill, 2015" once the assembly passes it.

New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday said his government was committed to effectively implementing the "Minimum Wages (Delhi) Amendment Bill, 2015" once the assembly passes it.

"We will implement this law effectively. We will take strong action against those violating the law," Kejriwal said in the assembly during a discussion on the bill.

"We are bringing worker friendly amendments in the bill without any pressure so this makes it clear that how serious we are in the effective implementation of this bill."

The discussion on "Minimum Wages (Delhi) Amendment Bill 2015" and "The Working Journalists and other Newspaper Employees (Condition of service) and Miscellaneous Provisions (Delhi Amendment) Bill 2015" was held in the assembly on Wednesday.

Both the bills were tabled in the assembly on November 26 and were likely to be passed on Thursday.

"Several good amendments are made in the bill. The provision of maximum punishment in the amendment bill has been increased from six months to three years," the chief minister said.
