New Delhi: The toll due to dengue in the national capital has touched 30 while the number of infected people has risen to 9,438, municipal authorities said on Thursday.

According to figures released by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), areas under the South Delhi Municipal Corporation recorded the highest number of cases at 2,248.

The lowest was recorded in areas under the East Delhi Municipal Corporation at 1,228.

The figures were the highest in the last six years for the period till October 10.

Following the rise in the number of dengue cases, the Delhi government recently bought 400 new beds to accommodate dengue patients in its hospitals.

Doctors in government hospitals have also started providing treatment to patients without waiting for dengue reports so as to keep a check on the rising number of cases.

The union health ministry has also organised blood donation camps following the scarcity of blood in hospitals for dengue patients.
