Rains continue in southern states

Monsoon rains continued to lash parts of southern states.

Chennai: Monsoon rains continued to lash parts of southern states with the weather office forecasting more rain in the region on Friday.

"Isolated heavy to very heavy rain has occurred over Kerala and Tamil Nadu between 0830 hours IST of yesterday to 0830 hours IST of today," it said in a bulletin.

Heavy rains lashed various parts of Tamil Nadu with K. Paramathi recording the highest rainfall of 15 cm in the last 24 hours ended at 8.30 am today.

Erode and Satankulam (Thoothukudi) received 14 cm and 13 cm, respectively.

The Regional Meteorological Centre forecast rain or thundershower at a few places over c.

Isolated rain or thunder shower may occur over Lakshadweep, Coastal and South interior Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh.

Dry weather will prevail over North Interior Karnataka and Telangana, it added.
