When Mumbai Police chief took Twitter by storm

Mumbai: Three days before he is due to retire, Mumbai Police Commissioner Ahmed Javed on Thursday took to Twitter to interact with citizens.

The 1980-batch IPS officer today answered a number of queries asked by the Twitterati.

At around 8 am, the Mumbai Police had tweeted:

Notably, Javed will now take over as the Ambassador of Saudi Arabia.

Javed said that the Mumbai Police's Twitter handle team makes a plan for every day and week about running a particular campaign on issues, like traffic.

During the interaction, people asked him several questions ranging from behaviour of police to NSEL scam and the Commissioner replied to these questions with a combination of humour and strictness. Some people sought to know what action was being taken against erring men in khaki.

One person tweeted that if a policeman was riding a bike without a helmet and his photo is sent to the department, will any action be taken against him, to which the city top cop replied that one can surely take a picture of such a policemen, but not when they themselves are driving.

Another one pointed out about the "poor" website of traffic police, to which Javed said that the portal was under construction and it would soon come out with a new look.

Dietitian Rujuta Diwekar told about her initiative in Khar police station in which she gave guidance to police to improve their diet plan for the day.

Appreciating her move, the Commissioner said such initiatives were necessary for the health of police personnel.
