All is not well in Uttarakhand Congress? Now, PCC chief hits back at Rawat govt's functioning

Dehradun: Uttarakhand Pradesh Congress Committee president Kishor Upadhyay on Tuesday hit out at his party and mocked party leaders for displaying a 'change in attitude' after assuming power.

Upadhyay, who is considered to be a close confidante of Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat, spoke his heart as he said, "Whether it's the central or the state government, after assuming power it changes its attitude and everyone seems to forget that they have been elected for five years."

Expressing angst over the recent political Uttarakhand row, which was ultimately settled by the Supreme Court, the PCC chief said, “All Congressmen should be respected so that a similar situation doesn't arise in the state.”

Reacting to Upadhyay's statement, CM Rawat said, "We will definitely take his opinion into consideration."

Upadhyay's reaction comes after the recent political row, which had almost led to Congress government’s ouster from the state. The Centre had dismissed the Congress government and imposed President’s rule in Uttarakhand after nine Congress MLAs sided with the BJP on the Appropriation Bill.

However, after Supreme Court's intervention, a floor test was held under the supervision of the apex court, in which the Harish Rawat-led Congress party won the trust vote in the Uttarakhand Assembly.
