Vande Bharat Train (SVDK-SINA): Indian Railways on Saturday conducted the trial run of the first Vande Bharat Express between Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra (SVDK) and Srinagar (SINA) railway stations. The train traversed the iconic Anji Khad Bridge, India’s first cable-stayed railway bridge, and the Chenab Bridge, the highest railway bridge in the world. Specifically designed to withstand the cold climate of the Kashmir Valley, the train marks a significant milestone in enhancing connectivity to the region.

This is the third Vande Bharat train introduced for Jammu & Kashmir but the first one to serve the Kashmir Valley. The Northern Railway zone will oversee the operations and maintenance of this semi-high-speed train, making it a key development for the region.

What sets this train apart from the 136 other Vande Bharat trains operating across India is its cold-climate adaptability. It includes advanced heating systems to prevent freezing of water and bio-toilet tanks. The train also has a unique air-brake system and warm air circulation to ensure smooth operation in sub-zero temperatures.

According to reports, the newly introduced Vande Bharat Express will depart from Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra (SVDK) at 8:10 AM and reach Srinagar at 11:20 AM. On its return journey, the train will leave Srinagar at 12:45 PM and arrive at SVDK at 3:55 PM, offering a convenient and efficient travel option for passengers.

Additional modifications include embedded heating elements in the windshield to clear frost during harsh winters. Triple-layered windscreens with heating filaments provide clear visibility for the driver even in snowfall. These features make the train capable of operating efficiently in temperatures as low as -30°C.
