Meet Parvesh Verma, Man Who Defeated Kejriwal In Delhi Elections; Check His Education, Net Worth And Other Details

BJP's Parvesh Sahib Singh Verma secured a major victory over former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in the recent New Delhi Assembly elections. The contest remained close, with both leaders leading at different stages during the vote count. Verma’s win marks a significant shift in Delhi politics, as Kejriwal has been a dominant figure in the state for over a decade. 

Verma, a two-time Member of Parliament from West Delhi, comes from a strong political lineage. His father, Sahib Singh Verma, served as Delhi’s Chief Minister, while his uncle, Azad Singh, held key municipal positions. This background has played a crucial role in shaping his political career. 

Parvesh Verma is married to Swati Singh. Born in 1977, he completed his schooling at Delhi Public School, R.K. Puram, followed by a Bachelor of Arts from Kirori Mal College, University of Delhi. He later earned an MBA from the Fore School of Management. His political journey began in 2013 when he won from Mehrauli in the Delhi Assembly elections.

In 2014, he entered Parliament and was re-elected in 2019 with a massive margin of 5.78 lakh votes. During his tenure as an MP, Verma served on key parliamentary committees, including the Standing Committee on Urban Development. He actively participated in discussions on governance, urban infrastructure, and public welfare. 

For the 2025 Delhi elections, Verma campaigned under the slogan “Remove Kejriwal, Save the Nation.” He targeted the AAP government’s handling of pollution, women’s safety, and infrastructure. He also raised concerns about the failure to clean the Yamuna River, a long-standing issue in Delhi. 

As per his nomination affidavit cited by Financial Express, Parvesh Verma declared a personal net worth of ₹89 crore, while his wife, Swati Singh, reported assets worth ₹24.4 crore, bringing their total wealth to ₹113 crore. The election took place on February 5, with results declared on February 8. 

According to the Election Commission of India, Verma won with 25,057 votes, while Kejriwal secured 22,057 votes. Congress’s Sandeep Dikshit finished third with 3,873 votes. The election results have reshaped Delhi’s political landscape, strengthening the BJP’s position in the capital. 

Verma’s victory is expected to influence future governance in Delhi, with debates over policies and leadership intensifying. The BJP is likely to use this win to push for broader changes in the city’s administration.
