Photo Gallery: PM Modi visits 97-year-old Ganesh pandal in Mumbai
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is on a one-day tour to Maharashtra's Mumbai, visited 97-year-old Ganesh pandal in Virle area on Saturday. PM Modi took darshan of Lord Ganesha straight after landing at the Mumbai airport.
State Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari and Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and state BJP unit president Chandrakant Patil were also present with PM Modi when he offered his prayers.
At the Ganpati pandal, run by non-profit organisation Lokmanya Tilak Seva Sangh presented to PM Modi a portrait of freedom fighter Lokmanya Bal Gangadhar Tilak and books on the activities of the LSS.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi scribed handwritten notes in Gujarati language and mentioned the slogan of Swaraj of Lokmanya Balgangadhar Tilak.
In the handwritten notes, PM Modi also wrote that Swaraj should now work in unison to make good governance.
Modi garlanded the bust of Lokmanya, who had started Ganesh festival at public level to galvanise people against the British.
Other dignitaries including Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi, Pandit Nehru, former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee have also visited this pandal earlier
