PM Narendra Modi meets Pope Francis, invites him to India
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday (October 30) met Pope Francis and discussed the COVID-19 pandemic and its consequences for people across the world. They also discussed the challenge posed by climate change. The Prime Minister briefed the Pope about the ambitious initiatives taken by India in combating climate change as well as country's success in administering one billion COVID-19 vaccination doses.
Pope Francis appreciated India’s assistance to countries in need during the pandemic.
PM Modi also extended an invitation to His Holiness to visit India at an early date, which he accepted with pleasure.
This, notably, was the first meeting between an Indian Prime Minister and the Pope in more than two decades. Back in June 2000, Late Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee had last visited the Vatican and met the then Pope John Paul II. Read more

Indian Bank reports frauds worth over Rs 266 crore
Indian Bank on Saturday has reported over Rs 266 crore worth of fraud to the Reserve Bank, relating to three NPA accounts. These non-performing accounts have been declared as fraud and reported to RBI as per regulatory requirements, the public sector lender said in a regulatory filing.
The bank has declared M P Border Checkpost Development Co Ltd as fraud with an outstanding of Rs 166.89 crore; Pune Sholapur Road Development (Rs 72.76 crore) and SONAC (Rs 27.08 crore). Read more
Road at Tikri border connecting Delhi to Haryana reopens
After 11 months, authorities on Saturday have reopened one carriageway of the road from Delhi to Haryana after barricades were removed at the Tikri border where thousands of farmers have been agitating against the new farm laws. The carriageway was opened following meetings between farm union leaders and the police. Read more
