Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone for four laning of five sections of Sant Dnyaneshawar Maharaj Palkhi Marg (NH-965) on Monday. During the virtual programme, PM Modi will also lay the foundation stone for three sections of Sant Tukaram Maharaj Palkhi Marg (NH-965G).

An Indian fisherman was allegedly killed while other sustained minor injuries in a firing incident by Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (PMSA) trooper near the international maritime boundary line in the Arabian sea off the Gujarat coast. The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) has confirmed that the firing incident occurred around 4 PM on Saturday. 

 

Sources told Zee Media that India has taken "serious note of the incident" and that India will be strongly raising the matter with Islamabad. Sources pointed that the firing by Pakistan was "unprovoked" and investigation is underway on the development. Read more

Chennai rains force work from home in govt offices, holiday in schools and colleges

In view of incessant rainfall in Chennai for the past few days, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin has declared a two-day holiday for schools and colleges in the city and other adjoining districts from Monday till Tuesday. 

 

Chennai has recorded the highest rainfall since 2015 and nonstop rain from 8.30 pm on Saturday till 5 am on Sunday left the city inundated with water entering homes in several low-lying areas.

New Zealand on Sunday beat Afghanistan in their last Super 12 clash by eight wickets to enter the semi-finals of the ICC T20 World Cup 2021. With this win, they have also knocked Afghanistan and Virat Kohli-led India out of the competition.
