Happy Birthday Arun Lal: Unknown facts about former India cricketer - In Pics

Arun Lal replaced Sunil Gavaskar in the 1987 Kolkata Test against Pakistan. Gavaskar had opt out of the match. Even after scoring 52 and 70 in the drawn Test Arun was dropped from the squad.

In 2016, the former cricketer was diagnosed with a rare type of jaw cancer and went through long treatment before defeating the disease.

 

 

 

 

Arun Lal recently got married for the second time to long-time friend Bul Bul Saha in Kolkata. He was earlier married to Reena but they separated with mutual consent. Bul Bul, who is 38 years old and reportedly works as a teacher. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Arun scored five double hundreds in domestic cricket, including three in Ranji Trophy and two in the Duleep Trophy. He came close to scoring a triple century twice but was dismissed at 287 both times.

 

 

 

Arun was one of the celebrities who appeared in the iconic 1988 Doordarshan music video Mile Sur Mera Tumhara, which promoted national integration and unity in diversity.
