Imran Khan and his wives
Leading the race to become Pakistan's Prime Minister, Imran Khan will always be remembered as the enigmatic 'Kaptaan', who transformed an immensely talented but fractious bunch of cricketers into world beaters. During his time, Imran was one of the finest all-rounders, a world-class fast bowler but perhaps it is the cult status he attained due to the leadership that made him stand out from the pack. While he is remembered as the fearless captain, his personal life has also been in the news often. He has had three wives, first being Jemima Goldsmith, second Reham Khan and third being Bushra Manika.
Imran Khan marries Jemima Goldsmith
Imran Khan and Jemima Goldsmith got married in 1995 and have two sons. However, they ended their marriage in 2004 and it was announced that the reason for the divorce is that it was "difficult for Jemima to adapt to the political life of Imran Khan in Pakistan." Congratulating Imran for winning the elections, Jemima on Wednesday said: "22 years later, after humiliations, hurdles and sacrifices, my sons’ father is Pakistan’s next PM. It’s an incredible lesson in tenacity, belief and refusal to accept defeat. The challenge now is to remember why he entered politics in the 1st place. Congratulations."
Imran Khan marries Reham Khan
In January 2015, Imran Khan married British-Pakistani journalist Reham Khan in a private Nikah ceremony in Islamabad. However, in October itself, they announced that they will be filing for divorce. Imran later said that his marriage to Reham was 'the biggest mistake' of his life. "Normally I don't say anything about Reham, but I will say this: I've made some mistakes in my life, but my second marriage has to be the biggest," he had said. Reham on several occasions and also in her recent book has levelled various allegations against Imran.
Imran Khan marries Bushra Maneka
On 18 February 2018, Imran Khan announced that he had married Bushra Maneka, ending weeks of speculation about the union. None of Imran's sisters was present in the ceremony triggering rumours that Khan had not taken them into confidence about his third marriage. Maneka is in her late 40s and has five children from her first marriage. He had once said that he did not see Bushra till until their wedding. He said that he had proposed to her without seeing her because she had never met him without a full veil.
Imran Khan's Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf has emerged as the single largest party in the National Assembly amid rival political parties' claim of "blatant" rigging.
