Unemployment rate jumps to 8.30% in Dec; THESE states have highest joblessness

India's unemployment rate rose to 8.30% in December, the highest in 16 months, from 8.00% previous month. The date was showed by Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy (CMIE). The rural unemployment rate slipped to 7.44% from 7.55%.

In 2021-22, the average monthly increase in the country's labour force was 0.2 million. The 8.8 million increase in April comes after a 12 million fall during the preceding three months. The increase in employment in April was in industry and in services.
