Doesn't mean I have accepted SC verdict, says Bhushan as he pays Re 1 fine
Lawyer-activist Prashant Bhushan on Monday (September 14) paid Re 1 fine which was imposed on him by the Supreme Court in August in a contempt case. Bhushan paid the amount in the Supreme Court registry. While announcing the fine, the SC had said that Bhushan can face jail for three months and a ban from practising for three years if he fails to deposit the fine by September 15.

The Supreme Court on Monday (August 31) ordered lawyer-activist Prashant Bhushan to pay a fine of Rupee 1 by September 15 as punishment in contempt case. The top court ordered Bhushan to pay the fine by September 15 or he will be jailed for 3 months and debarred from practising for 3 years. On August 14, Bhushan was held guilty of criminal contempt for his two derogatory tweets against the top court.

SC to pronounce quantum of sentence in Prashant Bhushan contempt case today
The SC will on Monday announce the quantum of sentence to be awarded to lawyer Prashant Bhushan, who has been convicted by the SC for contempt of court for posting two tweets against the top court. The verdict will be pronounced by a SC bench headed by Justice Arun Mishra. The veteran lawyer faces simple imprisonment of up to six months or with a fine of up to Rs 2,000 or with both as punishment under Contempt of Court Act.

SC adjourns hearing in 2009 Prashant Bhushan contempt case to September 10
Supreme Court (SC) on Tuesday (August 25) referred the 2009 contempt case against Prashant Bhushan to another bench observing that it is not only question of punishment but also faith in the SC that required detailed hearing. The SC bench said let the matter be listed on September 10 before an appropriate bench by the Chief Justice. During the hearing, a bench headed by Justice Arun Mishra told advocate Rajeev Dhavan, representing Bhushan, that he must ponder that people approach the court to seek relief and when that faith should not be shaken.
