7th Pay Commission: After 3% DA hike, HRA could also increase soon
The HRA of Central government employees could increase in the coming weeks. Central employees who fall in the X category are getting HRA at 27 per cent. HRA of Y category employees will be from 18 per cent to 20 per cent.

Currently, the total Dearness Allowance (DA) is 31%, with the possibility of increasing to 34%. With the government's 3% increase, the DA will rise to 34%. The most recent increases were made in July and October 2021, following a months-long halt due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Aside from the DA increase, reports indicate that some Central government personnel will be promoted in the New Year. Experts estimate that if the dearness allowance rises by 3% in January 2022, the total DA will rise from 31% to 34%. After raising the dearness allowance by 3%, the total DA will be 34%.
