BJP MP demands Tharoor's removal as chairperson of Parliamentary panel on IT

Dubey has urged the Lok Sabha speaker to "initiate urgent action and dismiss" Shashi Tharoor from the parliamentary standing committee on information technology's chairmanship. In a letter to Speaker Om Birla, Dubey said that a majority of members have exhibited their 'No Confidence' on the continuance of Tharoor as chairperson of the committee. The committee was expected to discuss the Pegasus snooping case in its last meeting.

Parliamentary panel on IT summons Facebook on September 2

The parliamentary standing committee on Information Technology has summoned Facebook on September 2 to discuss the issue of alleged misuse of social media platforms. This comes in the wake of claims that the US firm did not apply hate-speech rules to certain BJP politicians. A day before, the panel will also discuss the issue of internet shutdowns and has called representatives of the Jammu and Kashmir administration and others.
